How to Play Solitaire? - Your Easy Guide

  1. Setup: Shuffle a standard 52-card deck. Deal out seven piles of cards, from left to right. The first pile has one card, the second has two cards, the third has three cards, and so on, until the seventh pile has seven cards. The top card of each pile should be face-up, and the rest of the cards in the pile should be face-down.
  2. Objective: The goal of Solitaire is to move all the cards to four foundation piles, sorted by suit and in ascending order (from Ace to King).
  3. Gameplay:
    • You can move cards between piles in the tableau (the seven piles you dealt out initially), and to and from the foundation piles and the waste pile (the pile where you can draw cards).
    • Cards in the tableau can be built down in alternating colors (e.g., red on black or black on red), and by descending rank (e.g., a 6 can be placed on a 7).
    • You can move cards individually or in sequences (e.g., a sequence of cards in descending order and alternating colors can be moved together).
    • You can turn over the top card of the waste pile to begin building the tableau or to move to the foundation piles. If you go through the deck and can't make any more moves, you can turn the waste pile over and start again.
    • Empty spaces in the tableau can be filled with any card or sequence of cards.
  4. Building Foundations: As you play, you'll try to move cards to the foundation piles. You can start a foundation pile with an Ace and then build it up in ascending order (Ace, 2, 3, ..., King) of the same suit. Once a foundation pile has been started, you can't remove cards from it.
  5. Winning: The game is won when all cards are moved to the foundation piles.
